In May, Vultures co-founder, Julio Sarmiento, attended the Ramapo Scholarship Reception to meet and give out the first ever Dafne Scholarship which is a scholarship that was founded by Julio to provide First Generation EOF students at Ramapo College with the another step towards their degrees and future goals. The scholarship is named on behalf of Julio’s mother and is a way to give back to the college and the EOF program which assisted Julio with achieving his goals during his college career.
The first addition of this award was given to senior Aaliyah Marte. She is a social work student looking to use this award as a next step towards starting her masters in social work at Ramapo College. The student showed a true passion for what she wanted to do in the field of social work and is now able to continue to reach for her goals of becoming a social worker and giving back to the community. We wish Aaliyah the best of luck in her future endeavors and hope that her future is full of prosperity and open doors to continue to reach new heights.

This award was able to be provided to students like Aaliyah due to the consistent support of people who believe in the Vultures mission and align with the activities and the events that Vultures produce. The Vultures tournament that takes place in August of every year is an event that not only gives players and supporters a place to enjoy the beautiful game but also raises funds for the scholarship.
As the second Vultures tournament took place over the summer, we are in the process of awarding the second ever student with the Dafne scholarship to continue the Vultures tradition and providing students with the chance to take the next steps in their careers.
